Day 1

Mara Bushtops Safari Experience

At the airstrip, your safari experience begins as you step into a luxury 4×4 and travel towards Mara Bushtops. Along the way, you are accompanied by your ranger and spotter as you begin your first introduction to the region’s landscapes, flora, and wildlife. As you enter the conservancy, you may also encounter Maasai herders moving livestock across the land, offering a glimpse into the balance between local communities and wildlife conservation.

Around 4pm, we like to explore our private Conservancy. The cooling temperature brings out predators, so there is always a chance that you will encounter a lion or leopard kill, perhaps fought over by packs of hyenas, jackals and other scavengers.

As sunset approaches, your guide will stop to prepare a private sundowner. Here, in splendid isolation, you can sip your favourite drink, ease back in your chair, and watch the light shift from day to night over the Masai Mara. The experience continues as you set out on a night game drive, adding a unique dimension to your wildlife viewing before returning to camp.

Day 2

Mara Bushtops Safari Experience

After a delicious breakfast on Day 2, your safari continues with a full-day game drive across the Masai Mara. At 1800 meters above sea level, mornings can be cold, and blankets and hot water bottles are provided for comfort at the start of the drive. As the day progresses, temperatures rise and sun protection is recommended. Lunch is served in scenic locations, either under the shade of an Acacia tree or overlooking the Mara River, where hippos can be seen in their natural environment.

On your return, your driver radios ahead to make arrangements, ensuring you arrive back at camp to a bubble-filled hot tub and your choice of aperitif. The experience continues around the campfire, where guests can share stories from the day’s wildlife sightings, before sitting down to a relaxed dinner under the African night sky.

Walking Safari and Kakiya Cave Experience

Day 3

Mara Bushtops Safari Experience

On day three, you rise early, either for a morning game drive or (if you want to get closer to nature) head out for a walking safari to the Kakiya cave. Let’s assume the latter.

As you follow the trail, your guides explain the tracks, markings, droppings and plant life which create the surrounding tableau, sharing fascinating insights about nature’s bounty – and how it provides food, medicine and resources for tribal life.

Once at the Kakiya cave, you witness incredible wall art, using red ochre to depict wild animals and warriors. Still used by the Masai as part of tribal life and culture, this cave is truly timeless! Having visited, you can continue your cultural immersion by visiting our nearby school or simply return to camp to relax.

After a hearty lunch overlooking the salt lick, you may be in need of relaxation. A visit to the Amani African Spa Village offers the chance to unwind by the pool while watching herds graze around the camp.

Guests can choose from a range of treatments, including massages, Rasul body treatments, or the sauna, or simply enjoy a swim in the solar-heated pool or the infinity pool. With so many options available, you are free to relax at your own pace.

Final Game Drive and Departure from Mara Bushtops

Day 4

Mara Bushtops Safari Experience

Day four brings the choice of sleeping in or enjoying a final sunrise overlooking the plains, followed by a short drive to a pre-booked live bush breakfast. This gives you the chance to relish your last moments in the Bush, before your final game drive en route to the airstrip (dreaming of and already planning your next visit, we hope).
