ROVING NORTH
Between June and October Roving Bushtops is based in the northern Serengeti, a 15-minute drive from the Mara River. This is the ideal place from which to watch the migration arrive, cross the Mara and Sand rivers into Kenya’s Masai Mara, then see the herds again as they return to Tanzania. Being only 17 kilometres from Serengeti Bushtops (our fixed sister camp), guests have the option of splitting their stay between two very different locations and experiences.
Roving South
The Migration birthing season
When Roving Bushtops makes its move, our favoured location is Kusini in the south of the Serengeti. We travel to coincide with the wildebeest birthing season, which sees half a million calves (up to 8,000 a day) take their wobbly first steps between January and March/April. With eager predators in search of an easy meal, we are privileged to witness life and death adventures, from Roving Bushtops’ southern home.
SERENGETI WILDLIFE
Wild and timeless sights
From each of our roving locations, guests at Roving Bushtops witness life at its most raw and captivating. We have selected camp bases where all the big five prowl, stomp and thunder past, but you can also thrill to the shimmering glory of local birdlife, a host of predators and prey and – in the rivers – the brooding presence of hippos and crocodiles. If, as a bonus, you witness the migration of wildebeest and zebras, this adds an extraordinary highlight to a never-ending, eternally rich and varied wildlife masterpiece.
Sole use vehicles
What makes Roving Bushtops particularly special is the fact that every tent has its own private safari vehicle, giving guests privacy and total control of where and when they want to head out on safari. It’s an example of our commitment to aiming higher, providing truly luxurious mobile safari experiences.
"Most amazing safari camp EVER!"
