Safari Serengeti: A Christmas Wonderland
As most readers will imagine, when it comes to a luxury safari in Tanzania, one of the best times to visit is the festive break. Roving Bushtops takes up residence in the Southern Serengeti to make the most of abundant wildlife at this time of year, seizing the chance to provide the perfect safari holiday.
Our rangers report that they have been out on several recess, preparing for an influx of guests over Christmas and the New Year. These pre-emptive outings have established where the herds are gathered – attracted by grasses sprouting after the rains – and where the predators are hunting.
Herds of wildebeest and zebra are massing across the open plains, in the newly greened valleys and throughout the woodlands. Long columns of herbivores can be seen passing close to Roving Bushtops’ base at Kusini, whilst tens of thousands more are heading towards Ngorogoro, sending waves of wildlife past our trucks and camp.
Daily rains and endless hooves have turned the land into slippery mud, making our four-wheel drive vehicles essential to progress. Being fully equipped for the terrain, our bespoke Toyotas are absolutely fundamental to delivering a true luxury African safari, getting our guests as close to the action as possible – and ensuring everyone gets home safely from their adventures!
As the herds settle in the south, they are preparing for the January and February birthing season, one of the highlights of the calendar and the Serengeti. That makes Roving Bushtops the place to be for the next few months, before the mass migration heads back up north. We can’t promise to share a precise timetable, but with a bit of forward planning, you could be here with us at one of our stunning camps, sharing in the migration – or simply the endless circle of life that makes a luxury African safari at Bushtops the perfect place to unwind.
See you soon!
