These pictures show one of the wonders of the natural world: hundreds of wildebeest making a Mara River Crossing. The only thing more evocative is seeing the sight first-hand, a privilege enjoyed by our guests at Serengeti Bushtops a couple of days ago.
They were lucky enough to witness one of the first Mara river crossings of the season: there will be many more in the weeks to come. As our Head Ranger Deus notes, large herds are moving back and forth in the central Serengeti, with smaller groups feeding further north.
The latter are crossing from the Serengeti into the Masai Mara, bringing spectacular Sand River and Mara River crossings within reach of both Serengeti Bushtops on the Tanzanian side and Mara Bushtops across the river in Kenya.
The crocodiles and big cats observe this annual drama with hungry excitement: our human guests simply look on in awe, as tonnes of wildlife surge forwards, risking all in search of greener pastures.
