It Was Twenty Years Ago Today…
Those timeless lyrics from Sergeant Pepper remind us of our own special anniversary. 2006 was the year we launched the first of our three camps: Mara Bushtops. Exciting times. Terrifying times! But it all paid off, establishing something we are still astonished by, thrilled about – and hugely proud of.
Right from the start, we set out to do something others do, only better. We’ve striven to provide Wild Luxury – a perfect blend of safari adventures and superb comfort – reconnecting our guests with what matters most. So as we approached 2026 and our 20th anniversary, we asked ourselves: what could we do to celebrate in style the start of a third Bushtops decade?
The answer was simple. We’ve decided to give every single guest group their own exclusive vehicle.
It’s always been an option, but from now on, it’s a given. Every non-solo booking – whether for a couple or a family – now guarantees one of our amazing 4×4 game drive vehicles, all to yourselves, adding yet another distinguishing element to the Bushtops experience.
Exclusivity will apply with immediate effect to all new and existing 4×4 bookings (not our extraordinary 6×6 ‘Beests’), whilst anyone who has already paid extra for a private vehicle will have the premium recredited. Of course, if anyone actively prefers company, we will try to arrange this with like-minded guests, so let us know in advance, please.
(Please note that airstrip transfers may still be on a shared basis, depending on operational requirements.)
Naturally, this exclusivity means extending our fleet of exceptional and bespoke open-sided 4x4s. It also means recruiting extra drivers and spotters and extending the Bushtops family. Twenty years ag,o we began our Bush adventure with a team of around 20 staff. Today we employ more than 250 people across Mara Bushtops, Serengeti Bushtops and Roving Bushtops. Every member of the team is selected carefully, trained rigorously and valued enormously. It’s the only way to keep up the pursuit of perfection – and the Bushtops difference.
